Participation of local community in application of silvicultural systems : The Experince from Indonesia

Abstract

The objectives of this essay were to evaluate how far local community has been involved and which part of sylvicultural system that should be involved by local community. Literature review was used to gather information related to participation of local community in silvicultural system. As shown from many articles, it can be concluded that most of local people were not involved directly in parts of silvicultural system in Indonesia. However, government still have program to empower local people by developing infrastructure facilities (indirect way). Only a few of local people have authority to manage their forest (direct way).
