Abstract:
The tunicate Ascidia ornata has done screening bacteria that can produce antimicrobial compounds. The aim of the research was to find out charactericistics of antimicrobial activity of A. ornata-associated bacteria extracts. The species tunicate from Lemon Island in Dorery Bay Manokwari, West Papua. Bacteria that associated with A ornata were then isolated on SWC medium. The bacteria isolated from A ornate have 6 isolated and they know to have different type. From 6 isolate just 1 isolate can inhibit Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli K-11 (EPEC K-11) and Candida albicans. The result showed that bacterium is gram negative Enterobacter and it showed 99% homology with Enterobacter cancerogenus strain LMG 2693. The optimum antimicrobe biosynthesis was obtained after 48 h of incubation periode, agitation speeds at 120 rpm, intitial fermentation pH at 7, incubation temperature at 30 0C, using glucose as a source of carbon at concentration of 0,1 % (w/v)
