Abstract:
It is a common issue that not all children acquire language in the same ways. Although the majority of children undergo normal language development stages, a significant number of them have atypical or not normal language development to some extent. This study tries to describe a case on speech errors - a form of atypical language development of a child. The subject was a five-year-old child undergoing experience of language disorder. Data were gathered through a triangulation of three techniques: interviews (dialogues), observation, and prolonged records. The results of the study showed four categories of speech errors. These are incomplete lexicons, ambiguous lexical utterances, phonemic disorder, and production delay.
