Abstract:
Arfak Mountain Nature Reserve is located in the Bird Head Area of New Guinea Island. This reserve is recognised with bidiversity including orchid plants. The main aim of the study was to document orchids diversity and distribution in the Arfak Mountain Nature Reserve, West Papua, Indonesia. The study site located in three village i.e.: Mokwam, Shoubri and Kwau. Based on the preliminary exploration, 35 orchids are recorded and collected as living and herbarium materials. These species are classified into 19 genera of Agrostophyllum, Bulbophyllum, Cadetia, Calanthe, Cryptostylis, Coelogyne, Dendrobium, Dendrochilum, Diplocaulobium, Eria, Flickingeria, Geoderum, Goodyera, Grastidium, Macodes, Malaxis, Pholidota, Phreatia and Spathoglottis.
