Abstract:
Local wisdom is a form of environmental wisdom that exists in community life in a place or area. It is also defined as values or behavior of local people living in interacting with the environment where he lived wisely. This study identifies how to apply local wisdom in utilization of crab, tambelo, shellfish and fish resources by communities in Omawita and Fanamo village. Data collection was conducted on July 6-9, 2017, with observation method and direct field interview base on prepared questionnaires. Key respondents consist of 10 people, they are indigenous people from Omawita and Fanamo village, who utilized fishery resources that based on Kamoro’s local wisdom. Two kind of data are primary and secondary, there were analyzed by descriptive analisys to find objective information of local wisdom. The result of study shows that, there are five practices of local wisdom : using of fishing gears, identifying species mangrove that as habitat of tambelo, perception about nutrition of tambelo and about traditional packaging of mangrove crabs. Local wisdom is one of components to support community livelihood and sustainability of resources. Kamoro tribe utilizes fishery resources in sustainable way is dokumented in local wisdom practices
