Abstract:
cience process skills (SPS) are skills students need when they conduct an investigation. These skills are required by students in the process of inquiry to solve the problem of a natural phenomenon that exists around them. The research aimed to improve the science process skills and students' achievement. The type of research was classroom action research. The research was conducted in the grade XI IPA of SMA Yapis Manokwari. The number of subjects as many as 19 students. The research instrument consists of a test of student achievement and a test of SPS. The measured SPS indicators were observing, preparing hypotheses, measuring, interpreting data and making conclusions. The result of validation by the expert showed that the instruments were very valid to use. Data analysis used percentage achievement. The results showed that the improvement of students' science process skills in the 1st cycle of 84.21% increased to 94.74% in 2nd cycle, the improvement was 10.53%, and was in a good category to very good category. Student learning completeness on the 1st cycle of 89.47%, improved to 94.74% in 2nd cycle. The improvement in students' achievement was 5.27%. The conclusion of this research is the science process skills and the students' achievement of grade XI IPA of SMA Yapis Manokwari can be improving through inquiry-based learning.
